Age 7+ Ballet classes provides a broad practical dance education, progressively developing the technical, musical and performance skills of the student. These grades incorporate Classical Ballet, Free Movement and Character Dancing.

Classical ballet is the core of each levels syllabus and allows students to develop poise, flexibility, strength and discipline. Free Movement incorporates movements in common with dance genres such as Natural Movement, Contemporary and Classical Greek. Free movement is based on the natural lines of the body, and trains the student to develop their own natural style of movement. Character Dancing is the theatrical presentation of national dance using traditional ethnic dance and music, which has been freely adapted for the theatre. Character dancing is important for the development of strength, rhythm and style. The style selected for Junior Level Ballet is Hungarian; Elementary Level Ballet is Russian; and Advanced Level Ballet is Polish.

This class is recommended for twice per week attendence and is appropriate for age seven and older. Placement into the appropriate levels is at the director’s discretion. Prior ballet experience is helpful but not required. Students enrolled in this class are eligible for admittence into our Performance Program as well as an additional specialized Character Dancing Class.
